NEWS/ HAPPENINGS.

On the occasion of 60th birthday of Venerable Gurudev Shreesadhak Satyam, SSCT organized a cloth distribution program at district headquarters of Tanahun. We had collected 1300 pieces of clothes in Kathmandu. Though they were used clothes, they were in good conditions so the deprived communities were happy while receiving them on 12 September 2008.

Vyas Jyoti Sadhak Pariwar in Tanahun performed a good role in selecting needy persons and suitable persons for such and also arranged everything for distribution. 500 individuals from indigenous and deprived communities like Bote, Darai, Newar, Kumal, Damai, Kami, Sunar, Bhujel were benefited.

The distribution ceremony was amazing. At 2 P.M. on 12 September, about 400 people gathered, almost all women, some were mothers with mal-nourished infants clinging to their breasts. It was more than what was expected. Local social workers, politicians and academicians facilitated and graced the program. The clothes distributed were: 150 saris 160 blouse, 200 pants, 140 trousers, 50 winter wears like jackets sweaters and jumpers, 15 woolen shawls, 85 sets of kurtha salwar, 190 shirts, and 200 sets for small boys and girls.

Thanks to Mrs. Parimaya Gurung, the coordinator of this event and all members who were involved in this process for managing it in very systematic manner. As the latecomers had to return empty handed, SSCT will have to collect more clothes for next time.
